HOLIDAYS ARE HERE!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU ALL!
Photo: Hi Ms. Kit, my warmest cheers this christmas season!

Making Money Making Music

How do we make money making music? In arts and entertainment where they say, it's either feast or famine, unless you're Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Stevie Wonder, and the like, here's an interesting article on how to make money in actually, whatever you do. It is from the Source, where everything comes from. Everything starts from within, from each one of us. This, I'd say, is the Source of all sources of How To Get Rich.

Making Money According to the Vedas

The Vedic System of Earning :

Question: How can people make the money they need, to have a life of security and comfort without ruining their health and their life ?

MAHARISHI: “ Take a lesson from the animals. Where is money in the world
of monkeys? And where is money in the world of ants or elephants? It is a big misnomer. It is only a network of ignorance.

The Vedic system of earning is to stimulate total Natural Law in our desire to have anything.
Total Natural Law obeys our command in the Vedic system of culturing the mind.

To culture your mind, you need to take your awareness to the "source of thought".
From that field of unmanifest nothingness, the memory of everything wakes up in your awareness. Then infinite Creative Intelligence supports your desires, actions, and behavior.

"Transcendental Meditation" trains the mind to consciously start a thought from the self-referral Unified Field, the field of total Natural Law within oneself. From there, we fulfill a desire. It is a different philosophy.

It is a philosophy of slavery to educate a man to do something and give him so much money. Then you give him more money to make him work more.
This is a science of slavery, a philosophy of dependence.
“ Your most obedient servant " !!!..... what a fine thing.
You remain a servant of the person for a few thousand coins every month, and then you can buy your fruit here and there.

In Vedic system, you can train your mind to get the support of total Natural Law, which runs this whole universe, which can help you fulfill your desires.
The proof of this is in " Yogic Flying".
You invite the power of gravity at that moment, and the power of gravity says......
“Yes sir, I am here for you.”
With your invitation to the power of gravity, immediately the power of gravity serves your call.
If you want the body to lift up, the body immediately lifts up. This is a proof. We are not talking fanciful words. Vedic Education is a practical field of education.

We have seen that present education increases ignorance more than knowledge.

"Vedic Education" increases knowledge all the time, until you have gained access to the total knowledge of creativity—the infinite creativity of Natural Law.

It is a different thing, but that is our offer. Take it and enjoy............

or if you don’t take it today, tomorrow you’ll take it, or the third day you’ll take it.”

Hey, Friends

Remember what I told you last Halloween on Trick or Treat about a congratulatory email from the president of my alma mater, College of the Holt Spirit, Manila...?
I wrote the centennial song for our 100 year Anniversary next year 2013. It's actually a revised version of my High School Silver Jubilee song but the centennial committee requested I "tweek" the words a little to accommodate those who attended the school only for grade school and college. So I change "High school" to "Our school". Here it is. Hope you like it.

Why Artists Do It

“Artists are some of the most driven and courageous people on the face of the earth. They deal with more day to day rejection in one year than most people do in a lifetime. Every day, artists face the financial challenge of living a freelance lifestyle, the disrespect of people who think they should get ‘real’ jobs, and their own fear that they’ll never work again. Every day they have to ignore the possibility that the vision to which they have dedicated their lives is a pipe dream. With every passing year, many of them watch as other people their age; achieve the predictable milestones of normal life - the car, the family, the house, the nest egg. But they stay true to their dream, in spite of the sacrifices. Why? Because artists are willing to give their entire lives to a moment - to that line, that laugh, that gesture, or that interpretation that will stir the audience’s soul. Artists are beings who have tasted life’s nectar in that crystal moment when they poured out their creative spirit and touched another’s heart. In that instant, they were as close to magic, G-d and perfection as anyone could ever be. And in their own hearts, they know that to dedicate oneself to that moment is worth a thousand lifetimes.”

5th Annual Filipino American Jazz Festival

How do I describe Mon? I can never say enough about Mon. Mon David is a giant jazz artist! A super star, as Norman describes him! As Diane Schurr said, "He's the best kept secret of the Philippines!"
Words are never enough to describe Mon David's artistry. You just have to see him for yourself to experience MON DAVID!!

As a friend, he's very special! One of those closest to my heart! Our friendship dates back to the 80's with our  jazz band, FOURPLAY. The rest is history.

And what can I say about him last night - AWESOME... PHENOMENAL!!
And he personally dedicated a song to me called "Throw It Away". He knew it was my favorite.
You can't get sweeter than that, Mon. Thanks for a beautiful friendship.
And he even made special mention about me at the show.
I'm so humbled, Mon. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Sooooo proud of you! Love you!

One of the best inspirational videos ever - Susan Boyle - Britains Got T...

I was idly watching past americanidol/youtube auditions today and came across this video (displayed on the side). I knew it was Susan Boyle's audition at Britain's Got Talent. I didn't want to watch anything else anymore after that. I just had to stop and savor the experience. She's the ultimate inspiration of all!

I have this video in my past posts here somewhere but what a joy to experience her again! What an inspiration!

Who Made the Top 3 on AI (Top 4 Results)

http://www.americanidol.com/videos/season_11/recaps/top_4_results/

You. Go. Girl!!! We are all rallying behind you, Jessica! Way to go, Kababayans!

Hi Y'all

Not so many gigs as much as I want to right now as I'm putting my attention on my school project I have to complete before I go back to MNL early next year. I wrote a High School reunion song for my CHS classmates on our 25th Silver Jubilee 25 years ago??!! And we sang it again on our GRAND ALUMNI REUNION here in SF in 2010 and, somehow, it was well-liked and now it's going to be the theme song for our school's 100th year anniversary next year, 2013! I should really work on this as I have other CD projects to do in connection with my trip home next year.
I'm determined to complete my projects and release the CDs before the end of the year. Easier said than done but I've got to do it!
But I seem to struggle with timeframes. I don't get anything done as I just never seem to have enough time. It seems to take forever - catching up with paperwork, etc., (I can never catch up with paperwork! That's been my life's waterloo!). Yet, somehow, in the end, I do meet deadlines... but my paperwork still keeps piling up!

On the other hand, I'm a perfectionist by nature, so I tend to be overly critical of myself - not good! It's good to be critical but not overly!

Well, enough of that! JUST DO IT! MAKE MUSIC AND THAT'S THAT!!

I'll have a few gigs coming up and hope to fill you up on them but sometimes I just forget to update my schedule until they're over! Sorry, I'll do better.

Afterword

Live simply.

Love generously.

Care deeply.

Speak kindly.

Leave the rest to God.

Making a Difference in People's Lives

This is a true story and it will give you the chills.

This is a beautiful and touching story of love and
perseverance.

Well worth the read.

At the prodding of my friends I am writing this
story. My name is Mildred Honor and I am a former elementary school
music teacher from Des Moines , Iowa .

I have always supplemented my income by teaching
piano lessons - something I have done for over 30 years.

During those years I found that children have many
levels of musical ability, and even though I have never had the
pleasure of having a prodigy, I have taught some very talented
students.

However, I have also had my share of what I call
'musically challenged' pupils - one such pupil being Robby..

Robby was 11 years old when his mother (a single mom)
dropped him off for his first piano lesson. I prefer that students
(especially boys) begin at an earlier age, which I explained to
Robby. But Robby said that it had always been his mother's dream to
hear him play the piano, so I took him as a student.

Well, Robby began his piano lessons and from the
beginning I thought it was a hopeless endeavor. As much as Robby
tried, he lacked the sense of tone and basic rhythm needed to excel.
But he dutifully reviewed his scales and some elementary piano pieces
that I require all my students to learn. Over the months he tried
and tried while I listened and cringed and tried to encourage him.

At the end of each weekly lesson he would always say
'My mom's going to hear me play someday'. But to me, it seemed
hopeless, he just did not have any inborn ability.

I only knew his mother from a distance as she dropped
Robby off or waited in her aged car to pick him up. She always waved
and smiled, but never dropped in.

Then one day Robby stopped coming for his lessons. I
thought about calling him, but assumed that because of his lack of
ability he had decided to pursue something else. I was also glad that
he had stopped coming - he was a bad advertisement for my teaching!

Several weeks later I mailed a flyer recital to the
students' homes. To my surprise, Robby (who had received a flyer)
asked me if he could be in the recital. I told him that the recital
was for current pupils and that because he had dropped out, he really
did not qualify.

He told me that his mother had been sick and unable
to take him to his piano lessons, but that he had been practicing.
'Please Miss Honor, I've just got to play' he insisted. I don't know
what led me to allow him to play in the recital - perhaps it was his
insistence or maybe something inside of me saying that it would be
all right.

The night of the recital came and the high school
gymnasium was packed with parents, relatives and friends. I put Robby
last in the program, just before I was to come up and thank all the
students and play a finishing piece. I thought that any damage he
might do would come at the end of the program and I could always
salvage his poor performance through my 'curtain closer'.

Well, the recital went off without a hitch, the
students had been practicing and it showed. Then Robby came up on the
stage. His clothes were wrinkled and his hair looked as though he had
run an egg beater through it. 'Why wasn't he dressed up like the
other students?' I thought. 'Why didn't his mother at least make him
comb his hair for this special night?'

Robby pulled out the piano bench, and I was surprised
when he announced that he had chosen to play Mozart's Concerto No..21
in C Major. I was not prepared for what I heard next. His fingers
were light on the keys, they even danced nimbly on the ivories. He
went from pianissimo to fortissimo, from allegro to virtuoso; his
suspendedchords that Mozart demands were magnificent!

Never had I heard Mozart played so well by anyone his
age.

After six and a half minutes he ended in a grand
crescendo, and everyone was on their feet in wild applause! Overcome
and in tears, I ran up onstage and put my arms
around Robby in joy. 'I have never heard you play
like that Robby, how did you do it?

' Through the microphone Robby explained: 'Well,
Miss Honor ..... remember I told you that my mom was sick? Well, she
actually had cancer and passed away this morning. And well ...... she
was born deaf, so tonight was the first time she had ever heard me
play, and I wanted to make it special.'

There wasn't a dry eye in the house that evening. As
the people from Social Services led Robby from the stage to be placed
in to foster care, I noticed that even their eyes were red and puffy.
I thought to myself then how much richer my life had been for taking
Robby as my pupil.

No, I have never had a prodigy, but that night I
became a prodigy ........ of Robby. He was the teacher and I was the
pupil, for he had taught me the meaning of perseverance and love and
believing in yourself, and may be even taking a chance on someone and
you didn't know why.

Robby was killed years later in the senseless bombing
of the Alfred P. Murray FederalBuilding in Oklahoma City in April,
1995.

And now, a footnote to the story. If you are thinking
about forwarding this message, you are probably wondering which
people on your addresslist aren't the 'appropriate' ones to receive
this type of message. The person who sent this to you believes that
we can all make a difference!

So many seemingly trivial interactions between two
people present us with a choice

Do we act with compassion or do we pass up that
opportunity and leave the world a bit colder in the process?

You now have two choices:

1. Delete this; OR

2. Forward it to the people you care about. You know
the choice I made.

Thank you for reading this.

May God Bless you today, tomorrow and always.

If God didn't have a purpose for us, we wouldn't be
here.

Music Quotes

“Sound is not just vibrating the eardrum. It is actually resonating the entire being.”—Joshua Leeds, musician, educator and author
